I created the Peterson Family Foundation in 2003 as a tribute to Karen Peterson, my wife and the mother of Kort and Eric, our twin boys. Karen passed away in 2002 after a valiant and graceful 22-month battle with mesothelioma. At the same time, our family was also managing Eric’s diabetes and treating his leukemia, from which — thankfully — he has fully recovered.

The last several years have been enormously challenging and rewarding. Throughout Karen’s and Eric’s illnesses, we met countless people who amazed us with their knowledge, expertise, empathy and kindness. Before Karen left us, we agreed that as a family, we would do whatever we could to help these remarkable individuals and their organizations that are actively working to treat, and eventually cure, these life-threatening diseases.

I hope you’ll use this web site as a place of healing and hope. If you’d like to share your story, please send me an e-mail.
